Ableton Live 10 online authorization fails

Personal reminder:
Today, Live 10 Suite upgrade authorization failed for me when using the online authorization. What was going on?

In January, I tested the Live 10 Beta. In Chrome, the authorization link tried to access the Live 10 Beta binary which was no longer available on my system. Unfortunately, the corresponding Chrome popup only showed up for a split second, providing no hint that this caused the error. Switched to Firefox temporarily (sorry folks) and on authorization attempt, it complained about the missing binary. Selected the proper Live 10 binary and tadaa, it worked.

Side symptom of the workaround-ish offline authorization: The packs browser does not show “available packs” for download, i.e. you can not download packs from the brower. After the online authorization, everthing is working as expected.

Happy producing,
Mark

Jon Sine DIY Recording Desk

If you are still looking for a recording desk, you might want to check out this DYI option: Jon Sine is a producer / DJ / daily vlogger from Germany, Düsseldorf who has managed to create the almost perfect DYI recording desk. See his original video explaining the motivation behind the desk here: Jon Sine DIY Recording Desk

If you are working with just a few controllers and mostly rely on a computer for production, this could be the perfect desk for you. Pros:

  • DYI, affordable
  • stores heavy weight 88 keys controller keyboard
  • adjustable height
  • room for your legs

It is not for rack gear though. If you require rack space, consider Platform an option.

Specification

I recreated the desk in SketchUp. Measurements have been confirmed by Jon. If you want to tailor the desk to your own needs, get the 3D model file.

The kind of wood used is ‘Multiplex 18mm, Birke’ (German). The stand is from the desk Ikea ‘Thyge’ or discontinued ‘Galant’. Try to get a used one cheap.
